En 1937 nació unos de los pioneros del Pop Art Británico. Él, junto con otros cuatro artistas más, cambiaron la cara radicalmente del arte británico con sus trabajos irreverentes y poco convencionales.
Si, como veís en la foto, su nombre es Allen Jones y como podeís apreciar, la mujer está muy presente en muchos de sus trabajos.
A pesar de ello, muchas de sus obras no estan bien vistas y en ocasiones incluso, mujeres se han sentido discriminadas, llegando a atacar algunas de sus obras, como por ejemplo, en 1986 en la Tate Gallery.
Pero lejos de lo que unos y otros piensan, Allen Jones es sin duda, uno de los grandes artistas del Pop Art.
Su trabajo basado en la mujer lo define como el de una " Mujer Ideal". Normalmente su trabajo está unido al de escultores que plasman sus dibujos en figuras únicas y desde luego, que dejan sin palabras a más de uno.
Cuadros, esculturas, el logo de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1972... y también la moda, le han llevado a ganar multitud de premios como el Prix de Jeunes Artistes en París o el Art and Work Award at Cotton's Atrium en Londres.
Por todo ello y más, la revista POP magazine, ha hecho un tributo a la carrera de este gran artista mostrando su parte más cercana al mundo de la moda. Esculturas, corses y posturas junto con Alexander McQueen, Nina Ricci....
Su corsé metálico es una de sus piezas más importantes y la mesa de cristal, donde ejerce de patas el cuerpo de una mujer, ha dado la vuelta al mundo y está considerada una de las piezas más importantes del Pop Art Británico.
Una de sus mayores inspiraciones a la hora de crear era su mujer, con la que trabajaba entre sus estudios de Londres y Oxfordshire, aunque también, la chica perfecta para él y que apareció en muchas de sus obras es Brigitte Bardot, un icono de los años 60 que ha inspirado a artistas, diseñadores, modelos...
Allen Jones, sin duda, es un artista que llama la atención. Cuando estudiaba en la Royal Academy of Arts era famoso por su visión del arte y muchos de sus compañeros acudian a él en busca de consejos.
Todo lo que ha creado ha sido expuesto en multitud de galerias y museos de medio mundo...
La Gallerie Patrice Trigano de París ( 2009 ), la Galerie Ernst Hilger ( 2003 ) de Viena , Arco én Madrid ( 1995 ) y el MoMa de NY son ejemplos.
